JOEL'S WIFE, JOAN, TOOK ONE LOOK AT THEIR THROWN TOGETHER GAME AND THOUGHT OF A PICKLE BOAT IN ROWING.

THE LAST BOAT IN A RACE MADE UP OF ALL THE LEFTOVER ROWERS.

AND SINCE THEIR NEW, MADE UP GAME, WAS A MISS-MASH, JOAN THOUGHT 'PICKLEBALL' FIT PERFECTLY, AND THE NAME IS STUCK EVER SINCE.

STUDENTS AT PORTLAND ELEMENTARY SCHOOL HAD A VISIT FROM THE DENTAL TEAM AT

UNITED HEALTHCARE, WHERE THEY LEARNED HOW TO FIT GOOD MENTAL CARE

INTO A HEALTHY LIFESTYLE.

WE ARE AT PORTLAND ELEMENTARY TODAY, ALONG WITH MY PARTNERS ACROSS UNITED HEALTHCARE.

WE'RE HERE TODAY TO TEACH KIDS ABOUT THE IMPORTANCE OF TAKING CARE OF THEIR TEETH.

CLOSE TO 200 KIDS.

WE'LL COME THROUGH THIS MORNING, LEARNING HOW TO BRUSH THEIR TEETH AND THE IMPORTANCE OF DENTAL CARE.

WHO'S MAKING A PROMISE FOR ME THAT'S GONNA BRUSH YOUR TEETH TWICE A DAY, AT LEAST BEFORE BED? RAISE YOUR HANDS, COME ON.

WE ALSO HAVE A DENTIST THAT'S COMING IN, AND THEY'RE DEMONSTRATING ALL THE PLACES THAT THEY NEED TO REACH, AND THE IMPORTANCE OF DENTAL HYGIENE.

YOU NEED TO BRUSH YOUR TEETH MORE.

MAKE SURE YOU DON'T GET CAVITIES.

DENTAL CARE IS SO IMPORTANT.

OUR TEETH ARE AN INTEGRAL PART OF OUR OVERALL HEALTHCARE.

ONLY SIX OUT OF 10 KENTUCKY ADULTS IS GETTING TO THE DENTIST EACH YEAR.

SO STARTING WITH THESE KIDS AND TEACHING THEM EARLY, THE IMPORTANCE OF DENTAL CARE IS REALLY CRITICAL.

PUT THE TOOTHBRUSH IN AND ALL THE WAY BEHIND THE BACK TOOTH.

EITHER TOP, LEFT, OR TOP, RIGHT.

DENTAL CARE IS NOT JUST ABOUT THE TEETH, IT'S ABOUT ALL OF THEIR HEALTH, AND IT AFFECTS ALL THAT THEY DO.

AND WE KNOW THAT SOME OF OUR STUDENTS DON'T HAVE ALL THOSE OPPORTUNITIES AND HAVEN'T HAD THOSE THINGS SHOWN TO THEM YET.

HE REALLY SHOWED THEM HOW TO GET ALL THE WAY IN THE BACK AND IN YOUR TONGUE AND ALL THE THINGS THAT THEY DO.

SO THEY REALLY ENJOYED IT.

WE LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, HAVING OUR OUTSIDE PARTNERS COME IN.

IT'S CRITICAL THAT THEY SEE OUR STUDENTS, AND OUR STUDENTS SEE THEM AS PARTNERS.

AND SO ANYTIME WE CAN HAVE SOMETHING WHERE THE KIDS ARE ENGAGING IN THESE OPPORTUNITIES, THERE'S NOTHING BETTER THAN A HANDS ON EXPERIENCE WITH KIDS.

THEY LOVE TO DO THINGS AND BE PART OF THINGS, AND IT'S IMPORTANT TO SEE THE COMMUNITY COME IN AND ENGAGE WITH US.

WE'RE SO APPRECIATIVE OF OUR COLLABORATION AND PARTNERSHIP WITH JEFFERSON COUNTY PUBLIC SCHOOLS.

THERE'S NO BETTER PLACE TO TEACH KIDS THE IMPORTANCE OF DENTAL HEALTH THAN IN A SETTING WHERE THEY'RE ALREADY HERE LEARNING.

THE HEALTH SCIENCE PATHWAY LAB AT MOORE HIGH SCHOOL HAS REOPENED AFTER A FIRE THIS PAST SUMMER, DISPLACED STUDENTS AND MOVED INTO THE SCHOOL AUDITORIUM.

AT THE VERY BEGINNING OF THE YEAR, TWO JUVENILES, THEY BROKE INTO OUR MEDICAL BUILDING, AND THEY LIT IT ON FIRE.

SO UNFORTUNATELY, A LOT OF OUR EQUIPMENT, AND OUR BUILDING BURNED DOWN, AND WE COULDN'T USE IT AT THE BEGINNING OF THE YEAR.

IT WAS REALLY UNFORTUNATE.

YOU KNOW, ALL OF US WERE DEVASTATED.

THE OUTCOME OF IT IS JUST A TRANSITION FROM OUR COMMUNITY THAT WE ARE ALL BLESSED.

IT'S ABSOLUTELY AMAZING.

IT IS BEAUTIFUL IN HERE, AND WE HAVE ALL NEW BEDS, WE HAVE NEW CHAIRS.

WE HAVE A BUNCH OF NEW EQUIPMENT, AND IT LETS US BE ABLE TO DO MUCH MORE THAN WE WERE ABLE TO DO.

OUR COMMUNITY PARTNERS HAVE ALL STEPPED IN WITH SOS, WITH ALL THE SUPPLIES THAT THEY HAVE SUPPLIED US, NORTONS, TRILOGY, ALL OF OUR BUSINESS PARTNERS HAVE JUMPED IN WITH ALL THE SUPPLIES.

THERE WASN'T A SUPPLY THAT WASN'T COVERED WITH THE COMMUNITY ITSELF.

SO NOT BEING ABLE TO DO WHAT YOU EXPECTED WAS KIND OF HEARTBREAKING BECAUSE IT'S LIKE, WE WAITED THREE WHOLE YEARS FAR FORTH YEAR TO BE IN THE LAB AND GET THINGS DONE, AND WE WASN'T ABLE TO.

IT HAPPENED, AND IT WAS, YOU KNOW, TRAUMATIC TO THE TEACHERS AND THE STUDENTS, BUT WHEN WE CAME INTO SCHOOL, THERE WASN'T A PERIOD THAT THE STUDENTS WEREN'T READY TO WORK.

EVERYBODY JUMPED IN.

WE HAD OUR SUPPLIES DELIVERED WITHIN THE FIRST WEEK OF SCHOOL COMING IN, AND THE STUDENTS BEGAN PRACTICING.

THEY NEVER MISSED ANY PRACTICE TIME.

A WEEK AND A HALF AGO, THEY CAME DOWN HERE, AND THEY JUST COULDN'T BELIEVE, THEY HAD NEVER SEEN OUR LAB.

THEY HAD NEVER BEEN IN A LAB SETTING LIKE THAT.

OUR CLASSROOMS ARE REMARKABLE.

OUR STUDENTS HAVE BEEN SO GRATEFUL THIS YEAR.

THEY HAVE NOT ONE TIME COMPLAINED.

ALL THEY'VE GIVEN US IS 11 SUPPORT THAT WE NEEDED, AND IT SHOWS WITH THEM WHEN THEY CAME DOWN HERE.

WE WERE SURPRISED.

WE HONESTLY DIDN'T KNOW IF WE WERE GONNA GET IT BACK NOW, OR IF IT WAS GONNA BE UNTIL AFTER SPRING BREAK, OR EVEN JUST NEXT SCHOOL YEAR, SO WE'RE VERY HAPPY TO BE HERE.

I FEEL LIKE THIS YEAR'S BEEN A STRONG YEAR, EVEN THOUGH WE'VE HAD A FIRE.

YOU KNOW, WE DIDN'T EVEN THINK WE WOULD BE HERE AT THIS TIME.

WE DIDN'T THINK THAT THESE SENIORS WOULD GET THIS OPPORTUNITY, AND THEY'RE HERE.

WHEN WE FIRST WALKED IN HERE, I DON'T KNOW.

I'M A VERY EMOTIONAL PERSON.

LIKE, EVERYTHING'S NEW, DELIGHTFUL I WAS LIKE, OH, MY GOSH, LIKE, THIS IS A DREAM COME TRUE, 'CAUSE IT'S, LIKE, OUR LAST THREE MONTHS OF SCHOOL, WE WERE FINALLY BACK IN OUR LAB.

LIKE, MOST OF US, MAJORITY OF US, WE COMPLETED OUR FIRST ROUND OF SKILLS.

NOW, IN OUR SECOND ROUND, IT'S LIKE, WE GET TO FINISH UP IN OUR LAB, AND, YOU KNOW, FOR THE NEXT UPCOMING SENIORS, THEY GET TO ENJOY IT.

A BUTLER TRADITIONAL HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT RECENTLY WON FIRST PLACE IN THE

REGIONAL CYBERSECURITY COMPETITION IN FBLA.

HE'S ALREADY WORKING IN THE INDUSTRY WHILE STILL IN HIGH SCHOOL.

I AM KHALID, AND I'M A SENIOR HERE AT BUTLER HIGH SCHOOL.

THAT IS FBLA REGIONALS.

I RECENTLY WON REGIONALS FOR CYBERSECURITY, AND I GOT FIRST PLACE.

KHALID IS A HIGHLY MOTIVATED STUDENT, AND HE'S TAKING VARIOUS INDUSTRY CERTIFICATIONS WITH COMPTIA, SO HE'S GOT HIS CYBER SECURITY CERTIFICATION.

HE ALSO WORKS WITH THE COMMONWEALTH OFFICE OF TECHNOLOGY.

SO HE LEAVES THE MIDDLE OF THE DAY AND GOES IN AND DOES VARIOUS IT TASKS WITH THAT ORGANIZATION.

I HAVE THE A PLUS, NET PLUS, SECURITY PLUS, THE CERT REPORT NETWORKING, NETWORK SECURITY, AND I DO APPRENTICESHIP WITH THE COMMONWEALTH OFFICE OF TECHNOLOGY, IN THE LOUISVILLE OFFICE, WHERE I WORK WITH STATE EMPLOYEES, REGARDING THEIR HARDWARE SOFTWARE, AND ANY OTHER ISSUES THEY HAVE WITH THEIR COMPUTERS.

THIS IS A REALLY GOOD OPPORTUNITY, BECAUSE STUDENTS GET TO START THEIR CAREERS HERE IN HIGH SCHOOL.

THEY CAN GET UP TO 13 HOURS OF COLLEGE CREDIT.

THEY TAKE ALL THE COURSES, AND SO HIGHLY MOTIVATED STUDENTS CAN START THEIR CAREERS NOW, AND THE CYBER INDUSTRIES WHERE IT'S AT.

BEFOREHAND, I ALWAYS LIKED IT.

I JUST DIDN'T HAVE, LIKE, THE, WHAT'S CALLED THE RESOURCES TO GET THERE.

I NEVER KNEW TO GET THE CERTS OR TO GET THE JOB EXPERIENCE, BUT WHEN I CAME HERE, I FINALLY GOT THAT.

YOU KNOW, WE'RE GONNA NEED CYBERPROFESSIONALS, AND, UH, ESPECIALLY IN THE LOUISVILLE AREA, AND SO, WE HAVE A HARD TIME OF GROWING OUR OWN TALENT, AND SO, THIS IS A PIPELINE WHERE KIDS CAN KIND OF START IN CYBER IN HIGH SCHOOL, CONTINUE ON THROUGH COLLEGE AND OR CAREER.

IT REALLY HELPS ME OUT ON MY PLAN AFTER HIGH SCHOOL, ON WHAT I SHOULD DO, AND IT PROVIDES GUIDANCE FOR ME TO FOLLOW.

MY PARENTS ARE VERY PROUD, AND THEY LIKE THAT, I HAVE A JOB IN IT, THAT I CAN TAKE MYSELF TO WORK AFTER SCHOOL, 'CAUSE I CO OP, AND I KEEP GETTING CERTS, AND THEY'RE VERY PROUD.

TWO MOORE HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATES TRANSITIONED SEAMLESSLY FROM THE HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATION TO PROFESSIONAL CAREERS THROUGH THE IEC PREAPPRENTICESHIP PROGRAM.

RIGHT AFTER GRADUATION, YOU'RE GONNA GET SIGNED, AND YOU'RE ON THE JOB.

RIGHT AFTER I CROSSED THAT STAGE, THE NEXT DAY, I WENT TO WORK.

THE PRE-APPRENTICESHIP WAS AN OPPORTUNITY FOR KIDS TO BE ABLE TO COME IN TO THE IEC PROGRAM AND GETTING TO GO THROUGH MORE OR LESS THE SAME STEPS THEY'RE GOING TO GO THROUGH ONCE THEY GET INTO THE FIELD.

I WAS ONE OF THE TEACHERS THAT TOOK OVER A FEW OF THEIR LESSON PLANS TO GO OVER WHAT WE TEACH AT IEC AND GET THEM ENTHUSED ABOUT THE TRADE AND KNOW WHAT THEY'RE IN FOR.

A GOOD WAY FOR US TO BE ABLE TO SEE THEIR SKILLS AND FOR US TO BE ABLE TO SHOW THEM FURTHER, THE SKILLS THAT THEY'RE GONNA NEED.

IT WAS A GREAT EXPERIENCE.

I LEARNED A LOT ABOUT THEORY IN GENERAL, THINGS ABOUT SAFETY.

HE WAS THE VERY FIRST STUDENT TO WALK IN, AND HE WAS ALL SMILES, WALKED UP, AND INTRODUCED HIMSELF, SHOOK HANDS, VERY POLITE, AND YOU COULD TELL HE WAS VERY EAGER TO GET INTO THE CLASS AND GET INTO DOING SOMETHING.

I'M LOOKING FOR HELP, AND I'D BE WILLING TO HIRE HIM TODAY.

SO, WE WENT FROM THERE AS SOON AS HE GRADUATED HIGH SCHOOL, I PUT HIM TO WORK THE NEXT DAY.

I WAS REALLY MOTIVATED, EVERY SINGLE TIME, COME IN AND DO EVERYTHING I NEEDED TO DO, AND, I GUESS, STUART SAW IT.

ADAM WENT THROUGH THE PREAPPRENTICE PROGRAM, HE GAVE US HIS RESUME.

THAT'S HOW I SECURED THE JOB, AND THAT ALL JUST WORKED OUT TOGETHER NICELY.

SO THIS IS A WAY OF PREVENTION THAT REALLY IS IMPORTANT TO US.

THEY ARE OUTSIDE PLAYING AND PLAYING A LITTLE ROUGH SOMETIMES AND DON'T KNOW THE EFFECTS THAT IT CAN CAUSE IF THEY RUN INTO SOMEBODY OR THEY FALL ON THE GROUND AND HIT THEIR HEAD.

SO I JUST LOVE THE FACT THAT THEY HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO HEAR THE INFORMATION AND HOW IMPORTANT IT IS TO KEEP THEIR HEAD AND THEIR BRAINS SAFE.

FIRST GRADERS OF THESE DAYS ARE SO SMART.

THEY'RE ASKING VERY INTUITIVE QUESTIONS ABOUT WHAT PARTS OF THE BRAIN DO WHAT THINGS, WHAT HAPPENS WHEN THEIR BRAINS GET HURT, HOW THEY HEAL.

SO IT WAS REALLY FUN TO BE ABLE TO ENGAGE WITH THEM AND TEACH THEM A FEW THINGS.

SO YES, YOUR BRAIN, IT WORKS, IT HELPS YOU TO SOLVE PROBLEMS. WEARING A HELMET CAN BE THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN LIFE AND DEATH.

THIS IS OUR ANNUAL HEALTH FAIR.

THIS IS THE 12TH YEAR, AND WE GOT STUDENTS PRESENTING, AS WELL AS OUTSIDE COMMUNITY MEMBERS AND BUSINESS ORGANIZATIONS HERE.

MY PRESENTATION IS ABOUT HOW DRUGS BADLY AFFECT OUR HEALTH.

HEALTH AND WELLNESS IS VERY IMPORTANT.

AND WE TRY REALLY HARD TO COVER AREAS OF HEALTH.

SO PHYSICAL, EMOTIONAL, MENTAL, SOCIAL, AND EVEN FINANCIAL HEALTH.

I LEARNED ABOUT HOW MUCH SUGAR IS IN DRINKS AND STUFF LIKE THAT, WHICH I DIDN'T KNOW.

LIKE, I LEARNED HOW MUCH SUGAR WAS IN A DRINK.

I DRINK PRETTY MUCH EVERY SINGLE DAY, AND I LEARNED HOW UNHEALTHY IT IS.

THROUGH COLLABORATION, THROUGH CAREERS, AND ALSO THROUGH WHAT WE CALL VIBRANT LEARNING.

IT NEEDS TO BE HOT ALL AROUND SUMMER.

VALLEY HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS EXPERIENCED THE BROWN CANCER CENTER MOBILE SCREENING UNIT.

SO THIS IS THE MAMMOGRAM MACHINE.

SO THIS IS WHERE WE POSITION PATIENTS FOR THEIR MAMMOGRAM.

THEN I WOULD STEP BACK THERE AND TAKE THEIR IMAGE.

WE ARE IN THE BACK PARKING LOT OF VALLEY HIGH SCHOOL, AND WE ARE SHOWING THE STUDENTS THE MOBILE BREAST CANCER, OUR MAMMOGRAM UNIT.

I HOPE THAT THEY TAKE AWAY THAT IT'S IMPORTANT FOR THEIR FAMILY MEMBERS TO GET BREAST EXAMS AND MAMMOGRAMS AFTER 40, AND THAT THIS IS THE OPPORTUNITY THAT THEY CAN EXPLORE IN THE FUTURE FOR THEIR HEALTH CHARACTER WORK.

LEARNING HOW TO MAKE A PATIENT COMFORTABLE WHILE DOING, LIKE, AN INTIMATE TYPE OF PROCEDURE SUCH AS A MAMMOGRAM, LIKE, WHERE YOU'RE SCANNING THEM, THEIR BODY IS EXPOSED.

I WANTED TO LEARN HOW TO MAKE THAT PERSON COMFORTABLE WHILE DOING THINGS LIKE THAT.

BACK HERE? WE HAVE TWO DRESSING ROOMS. SO WE CAN HAVE TWO PATIENTS AT A TIME GETTING DRESSED, AND BEING READY FOR THEIR MAMMOGRAM.

EACH DRESSING ROOM HAS A DOOR, THAT ACTUALLY COMES OUT INTO THE EXAM.

IT PROBABLY SOUNDS AND LOOKS WORSE THAN IT IS.

MAMMOGRAM IS REALLY NOT BAD.

IT'S TIGHT, UNCOMFORTABLE.

BUT I WOULD SAY IF YOU'VE BEEN TO THE DENTIST, I THINK, PERSONALLY, A DENTIST IS WORSE.

WHATEVER WE TAKE FROM HERE, WE CAN GO HOME AND RESEARCH MORE AND LEARN MORE ABOUT.

AND THEN WE COULD BE MORE EDUCATED IN THE HEALTH DEPARTMENT, FOR WHEN WE DO GET OLDER AND WE WANT TO EXPERIENCE THINGS LIKE THAT.

THERE IS A NEED FOR SOCIAL MEDIA MARKETING.

THERE'S A NEED FOR PEOPLE TO BE ABLE TO CREATE CONTENT THAT LOOKS GOOD AND SOUNDS GOOD, AND OUR STUDENTS KNOW HOW TO DO THAT ONCE THEY LEAVE ATHERTON.

I WAS LOOKING FOR A MARKETING INTERNSHIP, AND MR. ROSE TOLD ME TO REACH OUT TO JAY SMITH.

I DID A LITTLE INTERNSHIP WITH THEM FOR A FEW MONTHS WITH SOCIAL MEDIA MARKETING, AND I ABSOLUTELY FELL IN LOVE.

BECAUSE I WORKED WITH HER IN THE SCHOOL PROGRAM, I KNEW HER, AND I KNEW THE QUALITY OF HER WORK ALREADY.

SO THAT NETWORKING WAS A MUCH STRONGER.

THE FAMILY HEALTH CLINIC HERE AT IROQUOIS HIGH SCHOOL HAS CARED FOR MORE THAN 1,800 STUDENTS, STAFF, AND THEIR HOUSEHOLD MEMBERS, AND HAS HAD OVER 6,000 VISITS, WITH METRO COUNCIL SUPPORT.

I ALLOCATED FUNDING JUST A FEW MONTHS AGO IN OUR MID-YEAR BUDGET TO BUILD ANOTHER FAMILY HEALTH CENTER AT PRP HIGH SCHOOL.

AND WE ARE SO EXCITED TO HELP EXPAND THE HEALTH SERVICES THAT ARE GONNA BE PROVIDED TO JCPS FAMILIES NEXT STOP AT PRP HIGH SCHOOL.

OUR STUDENTS SOMETIMES NEED HELP, OR THEY DON'T FEEL GOOD.

THEY HAVE DISEASE, OR THEY HAVE SOMETHING, AND THEY COME DOWN TO OUR CLINIC TO GET, UM, CHECKED OUT.

IN A SCHOOL WHERE MORE THAN 80% OF OUR STUDENTS QUALIFIED FOR FREE REDUCE TIMES, IN A SCHOOL WHERE WE HAVE ABOUT 40% OR MORE OF MULTILINGUAL LEARNERS.

THIS CLINIC BREAKS THE BARRIERS OF STUDENTS WHO NEED IT MOST.

THE CENTER PROVIDES PRIMARY CARE, BEHAVIORAL HEALTH, DENTAL SERVICES, ON SITE, ALLOWING US TO KEEP ALL STUDENTS HEALTHY AND SUPPORTED, AND MOST IMPORTANTLY, IN SEAT, SO THAT THEY TOO CAN SUCCEED AND THRIVE.

BECAUSE THEY NOW HAVE ACCESS TO HEALTHCARE WITHIN OUR SCHOOLS.

SO THEY REALLY ENJOYED IT.

THERE'S NO BETTER PLACE TO TEACH KIDS THE IMPORTANCE OF DENTAL HEALTH THAN IN A SETTING WHERE THEY'RE ALREADY HERE LEARNING.

THE HEALTH SCIENCE PATHWAY LAB AT MOORE HIGH SCHOOL H REOPENED AFTER A FIRE THIS PAST SUMMER, DISPLACED STUDENTS AND MOVED INTO THE SCHOOL AUDITORIUM.

BROKE INTO OUR MEDICAL BUILDING, AND THEY LIT IT ON FIRE. TWO JUVENILES, THEY SO UNFORTUNATELY, A LOT OF OUR EQUIPMENT, AND OUR BUILDING BURNED DOWN, AND WE COULDN'T USE IT AT THE BEGINNING OF THE YEAR.

IT WAS REALLY UNFORTUNATE.

YOU KNOW, ALL OF US WERE DEVASTATED.

THE OUTCOME OF IT IS JUST A TRANSITION FROM OUR COMMUNITY THAT WE ARE ALL BLESSED.

IT'S ABSOLUTELY AMAZING.

IT IS BEAUTIFUL IN HERE, AND WE HAVE ALL NEW BEDS, WE HAVE NEW CHAIRS.

WE HAVE A BUNCH OF NEW EQUIPMENT, AND IT LETS US BE ABLE TO DO MUCH MORE THAN WE WERE ABLE TO DO.

OUR COMMUNITY PARTNERS HAVE ALL STEPPED IN WITH SOS, WITH ALL THE SUPPLIES THAT THEY HAVE SUPPLIED US, NORTONS, TRILOGY, ALL OF OUR BUSINESS PARTNERS HAVE JUMPED IWITH ALL THE SUPPLIES.

THERE WASN'T A SUPPLY THAT WASN'T COVERED WITH THE COMMUNITY ITSELF.

SO NOT BEING ABLE TO DO WHAT YOU EXPECTED WAS KIND OF HEARTBREAKING BEC' THREE WHOLE YEARS FAR FORTH YEAR TO BE IN THE LAB AND GET THINGS DONE, AND WE WASN'T ABLE TO.

IT HAPPENED, AND IT WAS, YOU KNOW, TRAUMATIC TO THE TEACHERS AND THE STUDENTS, BUT WHEN WE CAME INTO SCHOOL, THERE WASN'T A PERIOD THAT THE STUDENTS WEREN'T READY TO WORK.

EVERYBODY JUMPED IN.

WE HAD OUR SUPPLIES DELIVERED WITHIN THE FIRST WEEK OF SCHOOL COMING IN, AND THE STUDENTS BEGAN PRACTICING.

THEY NEVER MISSED ANY PRACTICE TIME.

A WEEK AND A HALF AGO, THEY CAME DOWN HERE, AND THEY JUST COULDN'T BELIEVE, THEY HAD NEVER SEEN OUR LAB.

THEY HAD NEVER BEEN IN A LAB SETTING LIKE THAT.

OUR CLASSROOMS ARE REMARKABLE.

OUR STUDENTS HAVE BEEN SO GRATEFUL THIS YEAR.

THEYAVE NOT ONE TIME COMPLAINED.

ALL THEY'VE GIVEN US IS 11 SUPPORT THAT WE NEEDED, AND IT SHOWS WITH THEM WHEN THEY CAME DOWN HERE.

WE WERE SURPRISED.

WE HONESTLY DIDN'T KNOW IF WE WERE GONNA GET IT BACK NOW, OR IF IT WAS GONNA BE UNTIL AFTER SING BREAK, OR EVEN JUST NEXT SCHOOL YEAR, SO WE'RE VERY HAPPY TO BE HERE.

I FEEL LIKE THIS YEAR'S BEEN A STRONG YEAR, EVEN THOUGH WE'VE HAD A FIRE.

SO HE LEAVES THE MIDDLE OF THE DAY AND GOES IN AND DOES VARIOUS IT TASKS WITH THAT ORGANIZATION.

I HAVE THE A PLUS, NET PLUS, SECURITY PLUS, THE CERT REPORT NETWORKING, NETWORK SECURITY, AND I DO APPRENTICESHIP WITH THE COMMONWEALTH OFFICE OF TECHNOLOGY, IN THE LOUISVILLE OFFICE, WHERE I WORK WITH STATE EMPLOYEES, REGARDING THEIR HARDWARE SOFTWARE, AND ANY OTHER ISSUES THEY HAVE WITH THEIR COMPUTERS.

THIS IS A REALLY GOOD OPPORTUNITY, BECAUSE STUDENTS GET TO START THEIR CAREERS HERE IN HIGH SCHOOL.

I NEVER KNEW TO GET THE CERTS OR TO GET THE JOB EXPERIENCE, BUT WHEN I CAME HERE, I FINALLY GOT THAT.

YOU KNOW, WE'RE GONNA NEED CYBERPROFESSIONALS, AND, UH, ESPECIALLY IN THE LOUISVILLE AREA, AND SO, WE HAVE A HARD TIME OF GROWING OUR OWN TALENT, AND SO, THIS IS A PIPELINE WHERE KIDS CAN KIND OF START IN CYBER IN HIGH SCHOOL, CONTINUE ON THROUGH COLLEGE AND OR CAREER.

RIGHT AFTER GRADUATION, YOU'RE GONNA GET SIGNED, AND YOU'RE ON THE JOB.

RIGHT AFTER I CROSSED THAT STAGE, THE NEXT DAY, I WENT TO WORK.

THE PRE-APPRENTICESHIP WAS AN OPPORTUNITY FOR KIDS TO BE ABLE TO COME IN TO THE IEC PROGRAM AND GETTING TO GO THROUGH MORE OR LESS THE SAME STEPS THEY'RE GOING TO GO THROUGH ONCE THEY GET INTO THE FIELD.

I WAS ONE OF THE TEACHERS THAT TOOKVER A FEW OF THEIR LESSON PLANS TO GO OVER WHAT WE TEACH AT IEC AND GET THEM ENTHUSED ABOUT THE TRADE AND KNOW WHAT TH'RE IN FOR.

A GOOD WAY FOR US TO BE ABLE TO SEE THEIR SKILLS AND FOR US TO BE ABLE TO SHOW THEM FURTHER, THE SKILLS THAT THEY'RE GONNA NEED.

THEY ARE OUTSIDE PLAYING AND PLAYING A LITTLE ROUGH SOMETIMES AND DON'T KNOW THE EFFECTS THAT IT CAN CAUSE IF THEY RUN INTO SOMEBODY OR THEY FALL ON THE GROUND AND HIT THEIR HEAD.

THIS IS THE 12TH YEAR, AND WE GOT STUDENTS PRESENTING, AS WELL AS OUTSIDE COMMUNITY MEMBERS AND BUSINESS ORGANIZATIONS HERE.

MY PRESENTATION IS ABOUT HOW DRUGS BADLY AFFECT OUR HEALTH.

HEALTH AND WELLNESS IS VERY IMPORTANT.

AND WE TRY REALLY HARD TO COVER AREAS OF HEALTH.

SO PHYSICAL, EMOTIONAL, MENTAL, SOCIAL, AND EVEN FINANCIAL HEALTH.

I LEARNED ABOUT HOW MUCH SUGAR IS IN DRINKS AND STUFF LIKE THAT, WHICH I DIDN'T KNOW.

LIKE, I LEARNED HOW MUCH SUGAR WAS IN A DRINK.

I DRINK PRETTY MUCH EVERY SINGLE DAY, AND I LEARNED HOW UNHEALTHY IT IS.

ALL IN FOR AG REALLY EMBODIES OPPORTUNITY AND ACCESS FOR OUR KIDS.

THROUGH COLLABORATION, THROUGH CAREERS, AND ALSO THROUGH WHAT WE CALL VIBRANT LEARNING.

VALLEY HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS EXPERIENCED THE BROWN CANCER CENTER MOBILE SCREENING UNIT.

SO THIS IS THE MAMMOGRAM MACHINE.

SO THIS IS WHERE WE POSITION PATIENTS FOR THEIR MAMMOGRAM.

THEN I WOULD STEP BACK THERE AND TAKE THEIR IMAGE.

WE ARE IN THE BACK PARKING LOT OF VALLEY HIGH SCHOOL, AND WE ARE SHOWING THE STUDENTS THE MOBILE BREAST CANCER, OUR MAMMOGRAM UNIT.

I HOPE THAT THEY TAKE AWAY THAT IT'S IMPORTANT FOR THEIR FAMILY MEMBERS TO GET BREAST EXAMS AND MAMMOGRAMS AFTER 40, AND THAT THIS IS THE OPPORTUNITY THAT THEY CAN EXPLORE IN THE FUTURE FOR THEIR HEALTH CHARACTER WORK.

LEARNING HOW TO MAKE A PATIENT COMFORTABLE WHILE DOING, LIKE, AN INTIMATE TYPE OF PROCEDURE SUCH AS A MAMMOGRAM, LIKE, WHERE YOU'RE SCANNING THEM, THEIR BODY IS EXPOSED.

I WANTED TO LEARN HOW TO MAKE THAT PERSON COMFORTABLE WHILE DOING THINGS LIKE THAT.

BACK HERE? WE HAVE TWO DRESSING ROOMS. SO WE CAN HAVE TWO PATIENTS AT A TIME GETTING DRESSED, AND BEING READY FOR THEIR MAMMOGRAM.

EACH DRESSING ROOM HAS A DOOR, THAT ACTUALLY COMES OUT INTO THE EXAM.

IT PROBABLY SOUNDS AND LOOKS WORSE THAN IT IS.

MAMMOGRAM IS REALLY NOT BAD.

IT'S TIGHT, UNCOMFORTABLE.

BUT I WOULD SAY IF YOU'VE BEEN TO THE DENTIST, I THINK, PERSONALLY, A DENTIST IS WORSE.

WHATEVER WE TAKE FROM HERE, WE CAN GO HOME AND RESEARCH MORE AND LEARN MORE ABOUT.

AND THEN WE COULD BE MORE EDUCATED IN THE HEALTH DEPARTMENT, FOR WHEN WE DO GET OLDER AND WE WANT TO EXPERIENCE THINGS LIKE THAT.

THERE IS A NEED FOR SOCIAL MEDIA MARKETING.

THERE'S A NEED FOR PEOPLE TO BE ABLE TO CREATE CONTENT THAT LOOKS GOOD AND SOUNDS GOOD, AND OUR STUDENTS KNOW HOW TO DO THAT ONCE THEY LEAVE ATHERTON.

I WAS LOOKING FOR A MARKETING INTERNSHIP, AND MR. ROSE TOLD ME TO REACH OUT TO JAY SMITH.

I DID A LITTLE INTERNSHIP WITH THEM FOR A FEW MONTHS WITH SOCIAL MEDIA MARKETING, AND I ABSOLUTELY FELL IN LOVE.

BECAUSE I WORKED WITH HER IN THE SCHOOL PROGRAM, I KNEW HER, AND I KNEW THE QUALITY OF HER WORK ALREADY.

AND IT'S CURRENTLY THE ONLY CLINIC OF ITS KIND THROUGHOUT ALL OF JCPS, SINCE ITS OPENING IN JANUARY OF 2024.

THE FAMILY HEALTH CLINIC HERE AT IROQUOIS HIGH SCHOOL HAS CARED FOR MORE THAN 1,800 STUDENTS, STAFF, AND THEIR HOUSEHOLD MEMBERS, AND HAS HAD OVER 6,000 VISITS, WITH METRO COUNCIL SUPPORT.

I ALLOCATED FUNDING JUST A FEW MONTHS AGO IN OUR MID-YEAR BUDGET TO BUILD ANOTHER FAMILY HEALTH CENTER AT PRP HIGH SCHOOL.

AND WE ARE SO EXCITED TO HELP EXPAND THE HEALTH SERVICES THAT ARE GONNA BE PROVIDED TO JCPS FAMILIES NEXT STOP AT PRP HIGH SCHOOL.

OUR STUDENTS SOMETIMES NEED HELP, OR THEY DON'T FEEL GOOD.

THEY HAVE DISEASE, OR THEY HAVE SOMETHING, AND THEY COME DOWN TO OUR CLINIC TO GET, UM, CHECKED OUT.

IN A SCHOOL WHERE MORE THAN 80% OF OUR STUDENTS QUALIFIED FOR FREE REDUCE TIMES, IN A SCHOOL WHERE WE HAVE ABOUT 40% OR MORE OF MULTILINGUAL LEARNERS.

THIS CLINIC BREAKS THE BARRIERS OF STUDENTS WHO NEED IT MOST.

THE CENTER PROVIDES PRIMARY CARE, BEHAVIORAL HEALTH, DENTAL SERVICES, ON SITE, ALLOWING US TO KEEP ALL STUDENTS HEALTHY AND SUPPORTED, AND MOST IMPORTANTLY, IN SEAT, SO THAT THEY TOO CAN SUCCEED AND THRIVE.

THERE'S NO BETTER PLACE TO TEACH KIDS THE IMPORTANCE OF DENTAL HEALTH THAN IN A SETTING WHERE THEY'RE ALREADY HERE LEARNING.

THE HEALTH SCIENCE PATHWAY LAB AT MOORE HIGH SCHOOL HAS REOPENED AFTER A FIRE THIS PAST SUMMER, DISPLACED STUDENTS AND MOVED INTO THE SCHOOL AUDITORIUM.

AT THE VERY BEGINNING OF THE YEAR, TWO JUVENILES, THEY BROKE INTO OUR MEDICAL BUILDING, AND THEY LIT IT ON FIRE.

SO UNFORTUNATELY, A LOT OF OUR EQUIPMENT, AND OUR BUILDING BURNED DOWN, AND WE COULDN'T USE IT AT THE BEGINNING OF THE YEAR.

IT WAS REALLY UNFORTUNATE.

YOU KNOW, ALL OF US WERE DEVASTATED.

THE OUTCOME OF IT IS JUST A TRANSITION FROM OUR COMMUNITY THAT WE ARE ALL BLESSED.

IT'S ABSOLUTELY AMAZING.

IT IS BEAUTIFUL IN HERE, AND WE HAVE ALL NEW BEDS, WE HAVE NEW CHAIRS.

WE HAVE A BUNCH OF NEW EQUIPMENT, AND IT LETS US BE ABLE TO DO MUCH MORE THAN WE WERE ABLE TO DO.

OUR COMMUNITY PARTNERS HAVE ALL STEPPED IN WITH SOS, WITH ALL THE SUPPLIES THAT THEY HAVE SUPPLIED US, NORTONS, TRILOGY, ALL OF OUR BUSINESS PARTNERS HAVE JUMPED IN WITH ALL THE SUPPLIES.

THERE WASN'T A SUPPLY THAT WASN'T COVERED WITH THE COMMUNITY ITSELF.

SO NOT BEING ABLE TO DO WHAT YOU EXPECTED WAS KIND OF HEARTBREAKING BECAUSE IT'S LIKE, WE WAITED THREE WHOLE YEARS FAR FORTH YEAR TO BE IN THE LAB AND GET THINGS DONE, AND WE WASN'T ABLE TO.

IT HAPPENED, AND IT WAS, YOU KNOW, TRAUMATIC TO THE TEACHERS AND THE STUDENTS, BUT WHEN WE CAME INTO SCHOOL, THERE WASN'T A PERIOD THAT THE STUDENTS WEREN'T READY TO WORK.

EVERYBODY JUMPED IN.

WE HAD OUR SUPPLIES DELIVERED WITHIN THE FIRST WEEK OF SCHOOL COMING IN, AND THE STUDENTS BEGAN PRACTICING.

THEY NEVER MISSED ANY PRACTICE TIME.

A WEEK AND A HALF AGO, THEY CAME DOWN HERE, AND THEY JUST COULDN'T BELIEVE, THEY HAD NEVER SEEN OUR LAB.

THEY HAD NEVER BEEN IN A LAB SETTING LIKE THAT.

OUR CLASSROOMS ARE REMARKABLE.

OUR STUDENTS HAVE BEEN SO GRATEFUL THIS YEAR.

THEY HAVE NOT ONE TIME COMPLAINED.

ALL THEY'VE GIVEN US IS 11 SUPPORT THAT WE NEEDED, AND IT SHOWS WITH THEM WHEN THEY CAME DOWN HERE.

WE WERE SURPRISED.

WE HONESTLY DIDN'T KNOW IF WE WERE GONNA GET IT BACK NOW, OR IF IT WAS GONNA BE UNTIL AFTER SPRING BREAK, OR EVEN JUST NEXT SCHOOL YEAR, SO WE'RE VERY HAPPY TO BE HERE.

I FEEL LIKE THIS YEAR'S BEEN A STRONG YEAR, EVEN THOUGH WE'VE HAD A FIRE.

I HAVE THE A PLUS, NET PLUS, SECURITY PLUS, THE CERT REPORT NETWORKING, NETWORK SECURITY, AND I DO APPRENTICESHIP WITH THE COMMONWEALTH OFFICE OF TECHNOLOGY, IN THE LOUISVILLE OFFICE, WHERE I WORK WITH STATE EMPLOYEES, REGARDING THEIR HARDWARE SOFTWARE, AND ANY OTHER ISSUES THEY HAVE WITH THEIR COMPUTERS.

I NEVER KNEW TO GET THE CERTS OR TO GET THE JOB EXPERIENCE, BUT WHEN I CAME HERE, I FINALLY GOT THAT.

RIGHT AFTER GRADUATION, YOU'RE GONNA GET SIGNED, AND YOU'RE ON THE JOB.

RIGHT AFTER I CROSSED THAT STAGE, THE NEXT DAY, I WENT TO WORK.

THE PRE-APPRENTICESHIP WAS AN OPPORTUNITY FOR KIDS TO BE ABLE TO COME IN TO THE IEC PROGRAM AND GETTING TO GO THROUGH MORE OR LESS THE SAME STEPS THEY'RE GOING TO GO THROUGH ONCE THEY GET INTO THE FIELD.

I WAS ONE OF THE TEACHERS THAT TOOK OVER A FEW OF THEIR LESSON PLANS TO GO OVER WHAT WE TEACH AT IEC AND GET THEM ENTHUSED ABOUT THE TRADE AND KNOW WHAT THEY'RE IN FOR.

A GOOD WAY FOR US TO BE ABLE TO SEE THEIR SKILLS AND FOR US TO BE ABLE TO SHOW THEM FURTHER, THE SKILLS THAT THEY'RE GONNA NEED.

IT WAS A GREAT EXPERIENCE.

I WANT YOU TO ALL PUT YOUR HANDS ON THE BACK OF YOUR HEAD, RIGHT HERE.

WELL, THAT PART DOES IS IT HELPS YOUR BODY MOVE TOGETHER.

YOU ARE AT SEMPLE ELEMENTARY, AND WE WERE HONORED AND LUCKY ENOUGH TO EXPERIENCE PEOPLE FROM LOUISVILLE HEALTH COMING TO SPEAK TO THE KIDS ABOUT TAKING CARE OF THEIR BRAINS, PROTECTING THEIR BRAINS WHEN THEY'RE OUTSIDE PLAYING, AND WHAT THE BRAIN DOES, AND HOW THEIR BRAIN WORKS.

A BRAIN IS ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT PARTS OF A BODY.

AND IF YOU HURT YOUR BRAIN, YOU'LL LOSE PART OF YOUR MEMORY.

SO THIS IS A WAY OF PREVENTION THAT REALLY IS IMPORTANT TO US.

THEY ARE OUTSIDE PLAYING AND PLAYING A LITTLE ROUGH SOMETIMES AND DON'T KNOW THE EFFECTS THAT IT CAN CAUSE IF THEY RUN INTO SOMEBODY OR THEY FALL ON THE GROUND AND HIT THEIR HEAD.

SO I JUST LOVE THE FACT THAT THEY HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO HEAR THE INFORMATION AND HOW IMPORTANT IT IS TO KEEP THEIR HEAD AND THEIR BRAINS SAFE.

FIRST GRADERS OF THESE DAYS ARE SO SMART.

THEY'RE ASKING VERY INTUITIVE QUESTIONS ABOUT WHAT PARTS OF THE BRAIN DO WHAT THINGS, WHAT HAPPENS WHEN THEIR BRAINS GET HURT, HOW THEY HEAL.

SO IT WAS REALLY FUN TO BE ABLE TO ENGAGE WITH THEM AND TEACH THEM A FEW THINGS.

SO YES, YOUR BRAIN, IT WORKS, IT HELPS YOU TO SOLVE PROBLEMS. WEARING A HELMET CAN BE THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN LIFE AND DEATH.

IT CAN ALSO BE THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN GETTING A BUMP ON YOUR HEAD AND HAVING MONTHS AND YEARS OF REHABILITATION.

11, 12, 13, 14 WE ARE AT SENECA HIGH SCHOOL IN THE LARGE GYM.

THIS IS OUR ANNUAL HEALTH FAIR.

THIS IS THE 12TH YEAR, AND WE GOT STUDENTS PRESENTING, AS WELL AS OUTSIDE COMMUNITY MEMBERS AND BUSINESS ORGANIZATIONS HERE.

MY PRESENTATION IS ABOUT HOW DRUGS BADLY AFFECT OUR HEALTH.

HEALTH AND WELLNESS IS VERY IMPORTANT.

AND WE TRY REALLY HARD TO COVER AREAS OF HEALTH.

SO PHYSICAL, EMOTIONAL, MENTAL, SOCIAL, AND EVEN FINANCIAL HEALTH.

I LEARNED ABOUT HOW MUCH SUGAR IS IN DRINKS AND STUFF LIKE THAT, WHICH I DIDN'T KNOW.

LIKE, I LEARNED HOW MUCH SUGAR WAS IN A DRINK.

I DRINK PRETTY MUCH EVERY SINGLE DAY, AND I LEARNED HOW UNHEALTHY IT IS.

AND NOW I LEARNED HOW I'M GONNA CUT BACK ON THAT.

I LIKE THIS A LOT.

I FEEL LIKE OTHER ADULTS THAT I'VE SPOKEN TO SAID THAT THEY NEVER REALLY HAD OPPORTUNITIES TO DO STUFF LIKE THIS.

AND I THINK THAT IT'S REALLY, UM, REALLY GOOD FOR US, THAT WE HAVE ALL THESE OPPORTUNITIES TO GET TO LEARN ABOUT DIFFERENT STUFF AND AND HOW THINGS AFFECT YOU BECAUSE A LOT OF THE TIMES YOU DON'T REALLY LEARN THIS LIKE ANYWHERE ELSE, YOU DON'T REALLY KNOW.

SO, BEING ABLE TO HAVE THIS OPPORTUNITY IS REALLY NICE.

WE WANT OUR KIDS TO BE PSR ALREADY AND READY TO GO INTO THE REAL WORLD WHEN THEY GRADUATE HERE, AND THIS TYPE OF HANDS ON LEARNING HELPS THEM DO THAT, BECAUSE THEY HAVE MADE THESE PROJECTS IN CLASS, AND NOW THEY'RE PRESENTING IT TODAY.

I WANT THEM TO LEARN SOMETHING.

IF I HAD TO SAY THAT THERE IS ONE MISSION THAT WE HAVE WITH ALL IN FOR AG WEEK, IT IS THAT WE'RE CREATING LIFELONG LEARNERS AND CRITICAL THINKERS AROUND THE ISSUES THAT WE FACE IN AGRICULTURE, GIVING THEM THAT OPPORTUNITY AROUND AGRICULTURE TO BE CRITICAL THINKERS AND PROBLEM SOLVERS FOR THE FUTURE OF THE ISSUES THAT WE FACE THAT WE DON'T EVEN KNOW THAT WE'RE GONNA FACE IN THE FUTURE, IS THE WHOLE REASON WHY WE'RE DOING ALL IN FOR AG WEEK.

WE DO IT IN OUR OWN WAY, THROUGH COMMUNITY GARDENS, THROUGH FARMERS MARKETS, WORKING TO BRING FRESH AND HEALTHY FOOD, TO FAMILIES ALL ACROSS OUR ENTIRE CITY.

ALL IN FOR AG REALLY EMBODIES OPPORTUNITY AND ACCESS FOR OUR KIDS.

THROUGH COLLABORATION, THROUGH CAREERS, AND ALSO THROUGH WHAT WE CALL VIBRANT LEARNING.

IT NEEDS TO BE HOT ALL AROUND SUMMER.

AND I'M SAYING, WHEN WE PLACE IT IN HERE, WE USE THE REAL GROUND, LIKE...

AND EVERYBODY GETS TO BE A PART OF GROWING, THE AG COMMUNITY IN KENTUCKY.

VALLEY HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS EXPERIENCED THE BROWN CANCER CENTER MOBILE SCREENING UNIT.

SO THIS IS THE MAMMOGRAM MACHINE.

SO THIS IS WHERE WE POSITION PATIENTS FOR THEIR MAMMOGRAM.

THEN I WOULD STEP BACK THERE AND TAKE THEIR IMAGE.

WE ARE IN THE BACK PARKING LOT OF VALLEY HIGH SCHOOL, AND WE ARE SHOWING THE STUDENTS THE MOBILE BREAST CANCER, OUR MAMMOGRAM UNIT.

I HOPE THAT THEY TAKE AWAY THAT IT'S IMPORTANT FOR THEIR FAMILY MEMBERS TO GET BREAST EXAMS AND MAMMOGRAMS AFTER 40, AND THAT THIS IS THE OPPORTUNITY THAT THEY CAN EXPLORE IN THE FUTURE FOR THEIR HEALTH CHARACTER WORK.

LEARNING HOW TO MAKE A PATIENT COMFORTABLE WHILE DOING, LIKE, AN INTIMATE TYPE OF PROCEDURE SUCH AS A MAMMOGRAM, LIKE, WHERE YOU'RE SCANNING THEM, THEIR BODY IS EXPOSED.

I WANTED TO LEARN HOW TO MAKE THAT PERSON COMFORTABLE WHILE DOING THINGS LIKE THAT.

BACK HERE? WE HAVE TWO DRESSING ROOMS. SO WE CAN HAVE TWO PATIENTS AT A TIME GETTING DRESSED, AND BEING READY FOR THEIR MAMMOGRAM.

EACH DRESSING ROOM HAS A DOOR, THAT ACTUALLY COMES OUT INTO THE EXAM.

IT PROBABLY SOUNDS AND LOOKS WORSE THAN IT IS.

MAMMOGRAM IS REALLY NOT BAD.

IT'S TIGHT, UNCOMFORTABLE.

BUT I WOULD SAY IF YOU'VE BEEN TO THE DENTIST, I THINK, PERSONALLY, A DENTIST IS WORSE.

WHATEVER WE TAKE FROM HERE, WE CAN GO HOME AND RESEARCH MORE AND LEARN MORE ABOUT.

AND THEN WE COULD BE MORE EDUCATED IN THE HEALTH DEPARTMENT, FOR WHEN WE DO GET OLDER AND WE WANT TO EXPERIENCE THINGS LIKE THAT.

WE SEE THAT, AND WE'RE LIKE, HEY, I KNOW HOW THIS WORKS.

MAYBE YOU GO TO A DOCTOR'S APPOINTMENT WITH YOUR GRANDMA, AND YOU'RE LIKE, I KNOW WHAT THAT MACHINE DOES.

I LEARNED, LIKE, STORYBOARDING, I LEARNED PRODUCTION.

I LEARNED HOW TO WRITE PROFESSIONAL EMAILS, WHICH WAS REALLY GOOD.

AND THEN I LEARNED ALL THE ADOBES, AND THEY REALLY STRENGTHENED MY, LIKE, VIDEO EDITING SKILLS.

THERE IS A NEED FOR SOCIAL MEDIA MARKETING.

THERE'S A NEED FOR PEOPLE TO BE ABLE TO CREATE CONTENT THAT LOOKS GOOD AND SOUNDS GOOD, AND OUR STUDENTS KNOW HOW TO DO THAT ONCE THEY LEAVE ATHERTON.

I WAS LOOKING FOR A MARKETING INTERNSHIP, AND MR. ROSE TOLD ME TO REACH OUT TO JAY SMITH.

I DID A LITTLE INTERNSHIP WITH THEM FOR A FEW MONTHS WITH SOCIAL MEDIA MARKETING, AND I ABSOLUTELY FELL IN LOVE.

BECAUSE I WORKED WITH HER IN THE SCHOOL PROGRAM, I KNEW HER, AND I KNEW THE QUALITY OF HER WORK ALREADY.

SO THAT NETWORKING WAS A MUCH STRONGER.

JUST BECAUSE I ALREADY KNEW THE QUALITY OF HER WORK.

WE CAN'T SAY ENOUGH GOOD THINGS ABOUT JAY.

IT'S NOT JUST ALL ABOUT THE TECHNICAL SIDE, LIKE, WHAT KIND OF CAMERA YOU'RE SHOOTING ON OR WHAT KIND OF PROGRAMS IT'S ABOUT BEING ABLE TO MARKET YOURSELF.

AND JAY HAS BEEN INSTRUMENTAL IN HELPING US WITH THAT.

THE IROQUOIS HIGH SCHOOL FAMILY HEALTH CENTER HAS BEEN SO SUCCESSFUL THAT THE MAYOR AND METRO COUNCIL HAVE PROVIDED FUNDING TO EXPAND THE SERVICE TO PLEASURE RIDGE PARK HIGH SCHOOL.

WELL, GOOD MORNING, EVERYONE, AND WELCOME TO IROQUOIS HIGH SCHOOL.

WE ARE HERE BECAUSE JUST DOWNSTAIRS FROM WHERE WE'RE STANDING IN THE LIBRARY TO IROQUOIS HIGH SCHOOL, IS FAMILY HEALTH CENTER CLINIC.

AND IT'S CURRENTLY THE ONLY CLINIC OF ITS KIND THROUGHOUT ALL OF JCPS, SINCE ITS OPENING IN JANUARY OF 2024.

THE FAMILY HEALTH CLINIC HERE AT IROQUOIS HIGH SCHOOL HAS CARED FOR MORE THAN 1,800 STUDENTS, STAFF, AND THEIR HOUSEHOLD MEMBERS, AND HAS HAD OVER 6,000 VISITS, WITH METRO COUNCIL SUPPORT.

I ALLOCATED FUNDING JUST A FEW MONTHS AGO IN OUR MID-YEAR BUDGET TO BUILD ANOTHER FAMILY HEALTH CENTER AT PRP HIGH SCHOOL.

AND WE ARE SO EXCITED TO HELP EXPAND THE HEALTH SERVICES THAT ARE GONNA BE PROVIDED TO JCPS FAMILIES NEXT STOP AT PRP HIGH SCHOOL.

OUR STUDENTS SOMETIMES NEED HELP, OR THEY DON'T FEEL GOOD.

THEY HAVE DISEASE, OR THEY HAVE SOMETHING, AND THEY COME DOWN TO OUR CLINIC TO GET, UM, CHECKED OUT.

IN A SCHOOL WHERE MORE THAN 80% OF OUR STUDENTS QUALIFIED FOR FREE REDUCE TIMES, IN A SCHOOL WHERE WE HAVE ABOUT 40% OR MORE OF MULTILINGUAL LEARNERS.

THIS CLINIC BREAKS THE BARRIERS OF STUDENTS WHO NEED IT MOST.

THE CENTER PROVIDES PRIMARY CARE, BEHAVIORAL HEALTH, DENTAL SERVICES, ON SITE, ALLOWING US TO KEEP ALL STUDENTS HEALTHY AND SUPPORTED, AND MOST IMPORTANTLY, IN SEAT, SO THAT THEY TOO CAN SUCCEED AND THRIVE.

BECAUSE THEY NOW HAVE ACCESS TO HEALTHCARE WITHIN OUR SCHOOLS.
